About this audiobook
Set in Colonial New England, Slewfoot is a tale of magic and mystery, of triumph and terror as only dark fantasist Brom can tell it.
Connecticut, 1666: An ancient spirit awakens in a dark wood. The wildfolk call him Father, slayer, protector. The colonists call him Slewfoot, demon, devil. To Abitha, a recently widowed outcast, alone and vulnerable in her pious village, he is the only one she can turn to for help.
Together, they ignite a battle between pagan and Puritan – one that threatens to destroy the entire village, leaving nothing but ashes and bloodshed in their wake.
“If it is a devil you seek, then it is a devil you shall have!”

Amatuerish prose, as if the author did no research on the time period. The dialogue goes back and forth between modern language and what the author thinks is old timey Puritan speech. So so heavy handed with the emphasis on how oppressive the society is to women. It feels like he slips it in every other paragraph. We get it, being a Puritan woman sucked, but why all the exposition to tell me so?

10 outta 10 I tell you. Brom is a fantastic writer and just knows how to pull you into the world he is creating! I listened to the audio and the narrator did a beautiful job.

absolutely loved it! I've been looking for a book like this for a long time and finally found something with the exact vibes Ive been dreaming of. If you like the Salem witch trials and wicked creatures in the woods with sleepy hollow vibes this is for you!
