Jim Lawson

Born and raised in a tiny town in northwestern Connecticut, Jim Lawson knew a few things. He loved comics and that a pencil felt good in his hands. Beyond that, he knew that he wanted to become an artist and that he had the hopeful yet somewhat unrealistic goal for himself to create drawn moving pictures that tell stories. After art school, a fortunate series of events came together, and that odd confluence led him to be introduced to Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, the creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That strange event was the beginning of Jim's career in comics that has spanned nearly 35 amazing years; 25 of them at Mirage Studios as a writer and artist on the original black and white Turtle comic. Since the end of his employment with Mirage and the transferral to Viacom of ownership of the TMNTs, Jim's self-published works include Paleo: Tales of the Late Cretaceous, A Walk Through Dinosaurland, Dragonfly, Dinosaur Head Cat, Jim Lawson's Dinosaurs Coloring Book, and The Box City Wallops. Jim is currently working on his new comic, A Sordid Land.
